As a society, we spend a lot of our time feeling overburdened and tired. Whether because of a hard day at work, tension at home, aggravating traffic, or personal anxieties, the stresses of life settle into our bodies, and our muscles rebel, tighten, and call out for some tender loving care. Massage is the perfect antidote for stress. So let Andy (RMT) show you how massage can liberate your mind, attend to your body, and feed your soul.

The #1 therapy is hydrotherapy before your massage:
(From Page 7) ...... Hungarian National Health insurance paid HUF 4.2 billion for subsidising spa treatments in 2002. Patients can receive 10 sorts of treatments (thermal pool, thermal bath, mudpack, mud bath, weight-bath, fizzy bath, medical massage, jet massage under water, remedial group gymnastics under water and remedial group swimming) to either preserve their health or to get well again. In 2002 health insurance subsidised 9272 thousand treatments within medical bath services..... for every Hungarian Citizens...

What happens is the cold pack decreases the diameter of the blood vessels and the lymph vessels while the hot pack increases them; therefore, the pumping action will create the desired action: to bring more oxygen and nutrients to the area and at the same time, the waste and toxins are cleared from that area. The muscles will heal very fast due to the abundant blood supply and heal in a matter of minutes. However, the joints, (hip, knee), ligaments, tendons, and cartilages have less blood supply, so they have a light color and the healing processes are slower, and healing takes weeks or even months. Yet hydrotherapy still reduces the healing time as it has a much.. much..faster treatment or healing process. Use it!
The #2 treatment is the Massage Therapy...

Use a cold pack for up to 3 minutes at your injured area then replace it with a hot pack for 2 minutes. Repeat this cycle for 6 times. (Remember: Don't put ice pack directly on your skin, and the hot pack should not exceed +40C /104F. Don't freeze or burn yourself, but use a comfortable temperature.) This only takes a half an hour, but it makes a big difference!

The Massage therapist can deal with the pain/injured area, but we have to touch and press it, which is painful for you. The nerve fibres give you the pain, so they need to be released from the dehydrated muscles one way or another. Hydrotherapy gives you only heat and cold sensation, and the muscle treatment is done within 30 minutes, is painless, and costs nothing if you done at home.
The most commonly used hydrotherapy is in your own regular or hot tub. Stay in the warm water for at least 30 minutes a day for the first week, after that, try to use it at least 3-4 times a week.
Hydrotherapy treatment can create wonders in your body and more relaxing when you have a relaxing music. This will also activate your parasympathetic nerve system. It's not only relaxing but also rejuvenates your body the fastest way.
The #2 treatment is the Massage Therapy...

Drink Enough Water
You need to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. For example, a 160-lb. person's weight divided by 2 is 80 ounces, which is the equivalent of 2.5 liters of water that is needed for this person every day. To reduce and eliminate the risk, and even avoid cancer, hip and knee surgery and replacement, and many other illnesses, the wastes and toxins have to leave the body regularly. This amount of water allows for oxygen to circulate and for nutrients to reach every cell in your body easier. Without this amount of water, it is easy to get sick. Doctors cannot overemphasize the importance of drinking enough water and how much water we need daily. By the way, alcohol and coffee do the opposite - they dehydrate the body. I am an RMT (Registered Massage Therapist), and I only want and wish the best for you. Take care of yourself !
